The MP-7840B is a SAN Switch Capable of much high bandwidth when compared to the MP-7800B. This 2 Rack unit switch has 24 16 gigabits per second (16Gb/s) Fibre Channel Ports, 16 x 1 Gigabit Ethernet ports (GbE) and 2 40 Gbe Ports (enabling FCIP). Depending upon the optic types selected and the WAN connectivity the MP7840 can have up to 10 logical FCIP Tunnels with a maximum tunnel bandwith of 20 Gbps per tunnel  and the switch as a whole can scale up to 40 Gbps of FCIP/WAN Bandwidth.
